Day 15 Run It Fast Race Across the USA Map

Day 15: Run It Fast’s Race Across the USA – Queen of Pinson

Run It Fast’s Race Across the USA became a 11-team race on Monday after Rev Run finished first last night. A rough day for several teams and more of the usual from the top of the leader-board today.

Mojo Rising moved the most spots up in the daily standings. The only movement in the overall standings came from Tuck n’ Stroll, after the strongest day of any team on the day, moving up a spot over Alfa’s Omegas.

The Metcalvary has a firm  grasp on the Tier-2 race lead by 252 miles ahead of the Crowe Bars. After The Mets, it’s a log jam to the 7th place team. A lot of tired legs, but a lot of great racing still left to go.

Day 6: Run It Fast’s Race Across the USA – Mad Miles

Everyone knew that Day 6 of Run It Fast’s Race Across the USA would be explosive with miles, but it somehow went even beyond that. As usual we were led by Rev Run with 253.18 miles. They AVERAGED 23.02 miles per runner today with a ceiling of 41.27. Just simply amazing on all fronts.

Rev Run is so gung-ho that we received this message Sherry Meador sent to team captain David Pharr:

We might end up making this race into a reality tv show in future editions.

But Rev wasn’t the only amazing team on Saturday. Tuck n’ Stroll rose to 226.98 miles, along with The Metcalvary eclipsing the double-hundo mark with 218.60 miles. Bottom feeders Alfa’s Omegas and Peers One had really great days with strong miles from top to bottom.

The race leaders are already in Arkansas as the other eleven teams are all in Tennessee.

The Top 6 Teams on Day 6

  1. Rev Run – 253.18

The Day’s Quick Team-by-Team Recaps

REV RUN- Day 6: 253.18 Miles (1st) – 1st overall

Monster miles from the monster team, four Rev’s had 32 or more miles. But this team had big miles from members on the team that don’t always get the headlines, too. Renee Holcomb, dug deep, and came home with 15.03 miles. Jeff Lea donated a half marathon of miles. And the aforementioned Sherry ‘Girls Gone Wild’ Meador with 16.81 miles and 77 new friend requests. Emily Ryan had 20.21 miles, and Jeremy Reid 16.74. Once again, major kudos to Rev Run on a historic day.

Andy Glaze added extra cherries on top today with 46.35 miles giving him 154.48 over the last six days. Erik Pascual played a great Pippen to Glaze’s Jordan with 31.45 miles. Kelly Tipple was big with 25.04 miles. The Mets had 6 runners go for 20 or more miles. They moved into 2nd place and have a firm grasp of it.

The Tucks were 2nd overall on the day with 226.98 miles behind 66.10 mega-pore miles from Rene Fosdal-Griffin. Shane Tucker (34.67) and Ximena Kriete (31.48) were amazing as they both have been all week long. Rene’s big miles along with big miles from Jd Barnette (18.79) and Henriet Blodgett (20.00) are really the reason this team skyrocketed today. TNS jumped four spots from 7th all the way up to 3rd place. This time might be in it to win it (mortal division).

  1. Rene Fosdal-Griffin – 66.10 miles
  2. Shane Tucker – 34.67 miles
  3. Ximena Kriete – 31.48 miles

CROWE BARS – Day 6: 180.68 Miles (5th) – 4th overall

103.7 plays the best of the 90’s hits and Tag Team was back again with Cathy Downes and Seth Crowe doing near matching half-centuries on the comp. Combined they nearly netted the miles from our 12th place team today. But lets not forget Steve Troxel, the master of the 50k, who is a constant for the Bars. The heart and soul of this team though might be Marj Mitchell, who recorded 20.31 for the day and has 109.14 over the last six.

CB’s Top Performers of the Day

  1. Cathy Downes – 52.50 miles
  2. Seth Crowe – 50.05 miles
  3. Steve Troxel – 31.37 miles

MOJO RISING- Day 6: 125.32 Miles (11th) – 5th overall

The new car smell has left Mojo Rising. Their overall miles were decent if it had been a weekday, but they got blown out on this mega-watt weekend day finishing an abysmal 11th place. They fell all the way from the #2 spot to fifth in the overall standings. Lindsay Phenix and JR Reynolds were strong as usual. Kevin Lashley had his biggest day of the race so far with 17.02 miles. Donna Burns really stepped it up with 13.93 miles. Tomorrow will be an interesting day to see if they can save the weekend with a strong performance.

MR’s Top Performers of the Day

  1. Lindsay Phenix – 22.70 miles
  2. JR Reynolds – 21.65 miles
  3. Kevin Lashley – 17.02 miles

GRAPES OF RATH – Day 6: 144.18 Miles (10th) – 6th overall

Lisamarie Griffin saved the day for GOR with 67.08 hot, long miles of dodging the police and anything else that got in her way. Tom Orr did his part with 18.10, and Chris Clemens clocked in with 17.01.

GOR’s Top Performers of the Day

Seventh for the day, seventh overall. That’s consistency. The Lou’s were led by Russ Metteer with 39.63 miles. Team captain Marylou Corino had 27.00 miles and Memphian Christy Brewer had a nice contribution to the team with 23.89 miles. Also, Ray Berlanga upped his game adding 9.70 miles.

LOU’S Top Performers of the Day

  1. Russ Metteer – 39.63 miles
  2. Marylou Corino – 27.00 miles
  3. Christy Brewer – 23.89 miles

ALFA’S OMEGAS – Day 6: 189.11 Miles (4th) – 8th overall

Alfa-like on Day 6 for AO. They came really close to breaking 200 miles for the day, and it’s because every member on their team ran at least double-digit miles including a team high 32.24 from captain Alfa Severino. She was followed by Allison Barcelona with 21.02 miles and Houston Wolf with 20.04.

AO’s Top Performers of the Day

  1. Alfa Severino – 32.24 miles
  2. Allison Barcelona- 21.02 miles
  3. Houston Wolf – 20.04 miles

PEERS ONE- Day 6: 162.05 Miles (6th) – 9th overall

Peers was superb today with a 6th place daily finish with 162.05 miles after a rough day yesterday. Thomas Fowler was back strong breaking 30 again with 31.03 miles. He had a 30-buddy with team captain Rich Peers getting 31.17. Sofie Romero was very close to the 30 club with 27.97 miles. 9-year old Juleann Roberts also had a big day with 11.60 miles.

  2. Rich Peers – 31.17 miles
  3. Sofie Romero – 27.97 miles

KICKING GLASS – Day 6: 146.16 Miles (9th) – 10th overall

A solid day for Kicking Glass. They were led by Yvette Campos, who nearly tripled her daily average, with 31.13 miles. Aaron Debord dug for 23.01 and Lisa Van Wolde had 18.10 miles.

KG’s Top Performers of the Day

  1. Yvette Campos – 31.13 miles
  2. Aaron Debord – 23.01 miles
  3. Lisa Van Wolde – 18.10 miles

ELI’S P.R. ICE – Day 6: 146.22 Miles (8th) – 11th overall

I’m not sure any team works harder than Eli’s. They give all they have and are trending upward as this race unfolds. They came into the day in last place, but finished 8th on the day, jumping a spot to 11th overall. They were led once again by Francesca Muccini with 31.23 miles, and she was nearly matched by Abbi Auger with 31.05. Ed Barnette had a 16.15 mile day, his most miles so far, in memory of his good friend David Clark who passed a couple days ago. David was loved by many, and his untimely passing is a big loss to the ultra running community.

ELI’S Top Performers of the Day

  1. Francesca Muccini – 31.23 miles
  2. Abbi Auger – 31.05 miles
  3. Ed Barnette – 16.15 miles

THE BEETROOTS – Day 6: 103.84 Miles (12th) – 12th overall

The Yo-Yo’s were spun out far and tangled up with the fewest miles on the day, falling a spot back into 12th place in the race. However, they did have a really strong day from Glenn Richardson with 31.10 miles. Lance McDermott (20.01) and Leslie Studtmann (16.06) did their part.

BR’s Top Performers of the Day

  1. Glenn Richardson- 31.10 miles
  2. Lance McDermott – 20.01 miles
  3. Leslie Studtmann – 16.06 miles

The Day’s Quick Team-by-Team Recaps

REV RUN- Day 4: 197.18 Miles (1st) – 1st overall

An epic powerhouse. It’s repetitive, but this team is clicking on all cylinders. To even make the top performers of the day for Rev you have to run a marathon distance. They’ve been perfect so far. They entered team captain David Pharr’s home state of Tennessee today, but they won’t be there long.

Day 15: Run It Fast’s Race Across the USA – Suzy Michelson Team 1st to NYC.

The Suzy Michelson Team won Run It Fast’s ‘Race Across the USA‘ when Barry Reece, running the last leg for the team, stepped foot into Battery Park in New York City. His team was all smiles and cheers with the Statute of Liberty in the background behind the team.

The Suzys blazed the entire route from Santa Monica, California to New York City in 14 days, 21 hours, and 10 minutes.

Team captain Shane Tucker was the ‘Zen-Master’ keeping his high-fueled, mega-mile team of egos in check as they pushed each other hard every day of the race. They completed 160.4 miles today to finish the 2,907 mile journey.

Let’s get into the stats, standings, and recaps from the road…

Suzy Michelson Team: The Suzys are living it up in New York City after an amazing run. They got here days and even weeks before the pundits and experts predicted.

The team averaged 193.80 miles a day over the ~15 days. Their biggest day came two days ago when they ran 331.52 miles. Their lowest mileage day was on April 15th when they covered 160.2 miles. The Suzys ran over 200 miles three times.

The other captains sent over their congratulations to Shane Tucker, who went nearly Canadian, almost apologizing for whipping their butts so soundly. Tucker even got out his own beat-down stick putting down 33.16 miles himself on the final day to drive the stake into the hearts of the other teams.

All of the 15 team members made a big contribution to the team. Some were heavy hitters every day, and others, juggling life and jobs, did the miles they could, when they could. A total, joint team effort.

Kit Brazier and Marylou Corino RIF Run Across the USA Peak Performers

Day 3: Run It Fast’s Race Across the USA – Razing Arizona

Arizona is on fire as the four teams in the Run It FastRace Across the USA‘ blazed across ‘The Grand Canyon State’ razing up ruts of asphalt on their way towards Flagstaff and beyond for one team.

The story of the day came from the back of the field as the Hope Shull Team laid down 149.88 miles after their lackluster 94.79 miles the day before. The 149.88 also topped their Day 1 mark of 108.5 miles. HST had the second most team miles for the day. This team was led by Kit Brazier and team captain Marylou Corino. Brazier’s miles from the day before came in after check-in last night. So they were included in today’s total along with another big run she put down. They totaled a whopping 39.65 miles.

Marylou put down two 15 spots today for 30.39 miles. One of the highest single day totals of the event. It was an inspirational push that has inspired her team to realize that they have a chance in this contest.  Hope’s team finished the day a few miles past Kingman, Arizona having been led by two queens.

The double-headed dragon performances from Marylou Corino and Kit Brazier are the ‘Race Across the USA’ –  Peak Performances of the Day.

The Jeffrey Price Team was strong once again today. They were down a bit mileage from yesterday’s high, but they topped their Day 1 total by a couple of miles. They had a large number of runners knock out double digit runs. Their biggest drama today was fighting each other to get out of the van, and back on the road, each runner wanting to pound more pavement. This team is really pushing each other at a very high level.

The break out star of the entire race so far has been JPT’s Tom Orr. Tom’s been building a mileage stairway to heaven over the first three days with totals of 16.09, 18.39, and 20.29. He is the ‘McFeely-Good’ story of the race so far.  ‘Double-Dime’ Heather McComb once again knocked out 20+ miles. Over the first 3 days of the event she has 65.24 miles. Karl Studtmann was strong again today running 20.16 miles, while, at the same time, taking 17 telemedicine calls (and nine from Leslie).

The team camped out atop Bill Williams Mountain in Williams, Arizona tonight at 6,765 feet. The West Tennesseans on the team kept referring to it as Mt Everest. JPT’s biggest mistake of the day was letting David ‘Smokeless’ Oglesby attempt to build the campfire. After a ‘loud’ text message from his wife Melissa, back in Tennessee, ‘500K Dave’ finally relented and let Donna Burns get the fire going. Jeffrey’s team finished the day with 144.16 miles, 2nd place overall and built upon their lead over third.

The Charlie Taylor Team had participation from all 15 members again today. The only team to have ‘perfect attendance’ over the first three days. The team had no massive-mile stars today, but everyone was solid with five reaching double-digits led by team captain Joshua Holmes‘ 13 miles. They finished the day with 112.5 miles just short of Seligman, Arizona. The team is healthy and sticking with their consistent, all-hands-on-deck approach. They remain in third place overall.

The Suzy Michelson Team fell off slightly today, but they still put down the most miles of Day 3 with 160.2 miles powered by five 20-mile days from Barry Reece, Captain Shane Tucker, Alex Barrientos, David Nichols, and led by Chris Clemens‘ 25.77 miles. Reece hit the 20-mile mark for the 3rd consecutive day. Kimberly Atkins added a half marathon+ after her 26.22 miles yesterday. This team has the most heavy hitters. If they can stay healthy, they will be tough to beat.

The team finished the day in Winslow.  A few minutes later, Mission Control received the following message from Clemens:

“Well, I’m a standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
And such a fine sight to see
It’s a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford
Slowin’ down to take a look at me”

Captain  Tucker made sure to pay for the rooms in cash and not put a credit card down for incidentals.

Hopefully the team is taking it easy, having a good night on the town, and safely asleep by now.  The SMT may lose, or they might win, but it’s sure they will never be here again.

The Suzy Michelson Team remains in the overall lead with 534.01 miles covered for the race.

Run It Fast Race Across the USA Rosters – April 13 2020

Run It Fast’s Race Across the USA Team Relay

Run It Fast’s ‘Race Across the USA’ kicks off at midnight on April 13, 2020. It will pit four teams comprised of 60 Run It Fast members racing each other across the United States. The race starts on the Santa Monica Pier in California, just outside of Los Angeles, and will go all the way to New York City.

The teams will cover the 2,907 miles by team members submitting their day running/walking/hiking miles to their team captain daily. This will be done via screenshots of their Strava/Garmin/GPS from an outside run or via a photo of their treadmill displaying the appropriate data.

The four teams are named after Run It Fast members that passed on from us way too soon. It’s a simple way we can help remember them and keep their legacy close to us.

Race Across the USA Team Names

  • Charlie Taylor Team
  • Hope Shull Team
  • Suzy Michelson Team
  • Jeffrey Price Team

Team Rosters for the Run It Fast’s ‘Race Across the USA’

Participant Rules:

  • Can start Monday 4/13/2020 at 12:00 A.M. of the time zone you are currently residing in.
  • No less than 1.0 mile for any outing. You can submit as many runs/walks/hikes you want a day that you do. Each one just must be at least 1.0 miles.
  • You MUST have GPS (prefer Strava/Garmin) and send a snapshot of each run/walk/hike to your team captain within 24 hrs. If you happen to forget to turn in your miles you have 48 hrs to get them in before those particular miles expire. Treadmill miles count too and just need a snapshot sent as well.
  • Map will be updated 1x per day with all team progress.

Any other rules that need to be created or issues that arise will be decided and agreed upon by the four captains.

A big thanks to all these runners taking part, and a special big thanks to the captains:  Shane Tucker, Marylou Corino, Melissa Price, Joshua Holmes, and Jill Williams, who is our Mission Control helping keep us straight with all the numbers and logistics.
