Day 6: Run It Fast’s Race Across the USA – Mad Miles

Everyone knew that Day 6 of Run It Fast’s Race Across the USA would be explosive with miles, but it somehow went even beyond that. As usual we were led by Rev Run with 253.18 miles. They AVERAGED 23.02 miles per runner today with a ceiling of 41.27. Just simply amazing on all fronts.

Rev Run is so gung-ho that we received this message Sherry Meador sent to team captain David Pharr:

We might end up making this race into a reality tv show in future editions.

But Rev wasn’t the only amazing team on Saturday. Tuck n’ Stroll rose to 226.98 miles, along with The Metcalvary eclipsing the double-hundo mark with 218.60 miles. Bottom feeders Alfa’s Omegas and Peers One had really great days with strong miles from top to bottom.

The race leaders are already in Arkansas as the other eleven teams are all in Tennessee.

The Day’s Quick Team-by-Team Recaps

REV RUN- Day 6: 253.18 Miles (1st) – 1st overall

Monster miles from the monster team, four Rev’s had 32 or more miles. But this team had big miles from members on the team that don’t always get the headlines, too. Renee Holcomb, dug deep, and came home with 15.03 miles. Jeff Lea donated a half marathon of miles. And the aforementioned Sherry ‘Girls Gone Wild’ Meador with 16.81 miles and 77 new friend requests. Emily Ryan had 20.21 miles, and Jeremy Reid 16.74. Once again, major kudos to Rev Run on a historic day.

Andy Glaze added extra cherries on top today with 46.35 miles giving him 154.48 over the last six days. Erik Pascual played a great Pippen to Glaze’s Jordan with 31.45 miles. Kelly Tipple was big with 25.04 miles. The Mets had 6 runners go for 20 or more miles. They moved into 2nd place and have a firm grasp of it.

The Tucks were 2nd overall on the day with 226.98 miles behind 66.10 mega-pore miles from Rene Fosdal-Griffin. Shane Tucker (34.67) and Ximena Kriete (31.48) were amazing as they both have been all week long. Rene’s big miles along with big miles from Jd Barnette (18.79) and Henriet Blodgett (20.00) are really the reason this team skyrocketed today. TNS jumped four spots from 7th all the way up to 3rd place. This time might be in it to win it (mortal division).

CROWE BARS – Day 6: 180.68 Miles (5th) – 4th overall

103.7 plays the best of the 90’s hits and Tag Team was back again with Cathy Downes and Seth Crowe doing near matching half-centuries on the comp. Combined they nearly netted the miles from our 12th place team today. But lets not forget Steve Troxel, the master of the 50k, who is a constant for the Bars. The heart and soul of this team though might be Marj Mitchell, who recorded 20.31 for the day and has 109.14 over the last six.

MOJO RISING- Day 6: 125.32 Miles (11th) – 5th overall

The new car smell has left Mojo Rising. Their overall miles were decent if it had been a weekday, but they got blown out on this mega-watt weekend day finishing an abysmal 11th place. They fell all the way from the #2 spot to fifth in the overall standings. Lindsay Phenix and JR Reynolds were strong as usual. Kevin Lashley had his biggest day of the race so far with 17.02 miles. Donna Burns really stepped it up with 13.93 miles. Tomorrow will be an interesting day to see if they can save the weekend with a strong performance.

ALFA’S OMEGAS – Day 6: 189.11 Miles (4th) – 8th overall

Alfa-like on Day 6 for AO. They came really close to breaking 200 miles for the day, and it’s because every member on their team ran at least double-digit miles including a team high 32.24 from captain Alfa Severino. She was followed by Allison Barcelona with 21.02 miles and Houston Wolf with 20.04.

AO’s Top Performers of the Day

Peers was superb today with a 6th place daily finish with 162.05 miles after a rough day yesterday. Thomas Fowler was back strong breaking 30 again with 31.03 miles. He had a 30-buddy with team captain Rich Peers getting 31.17. Sofie Romero was very close to the 30 club with 27.97 miles. 9-year old Juleann Roberts also had a big day with 11.60 miles.

ELI’S P.R. ICE – Day 6: 146.22 Miles (8th) – 11th overall

I’m not sure any team works harder than Eli’s. They give all they have and are trending upward as this race unfolds. They came into the day in last place, but finished 8th on the day, jumping a spot to 11th overall. They were led once again by Francesca Muccini with 31.23 miles, and she was nearly matched by Abbi Auger with 31.05. Ed Barnette had a 16.15 mile day, his most miles so far, in memory of his good friend David Clark who passed a couple days ago. David was loved by many, and his untimely passing is a big loss to the ultra running community.

  1. Francesca Muccini – 31.23 miles
  2. Abbi Auger – 31.05 miles
  3. Ed Barnette – 16.15 miles

THE BEETROOTS – Day 6: 103.84 Miles (12th) – 12th overall

The Yo-Yo’s were spun out far and tangled up with the fewest miles on the day, falling a spot back into 12th place in the race. However, they did have a really strong day from Glenn Richardson with 31.10 miles. Lance McDermott (20.01) and Leslie Studtmann (16.06) did their part.
