Kenya’s Rita Jeptoo won the 118th Boston Marathon for the women moments ago with a course record time of 2:18:57. It was Rita’s third Boston Marathon win and back to back win after winning last year as well.
Second and third place went to Ethiopia’s Buzunesh Deba and Mare Dibaba respectively.

Meb Keflezighi Wins the 2014 Boston Marathon (Top 10 Male Results)
Congrats to Rita on the repeat and her third Boston Marathon finish. Props also to American Shalane Flanagan who ran an extremely strong race leading from the start until around mile 20 as well as to fellow American Desiree Linden on her top 10 finish..

Kenya’s Rita Jeptoo came from behind, making up a large gap behind Columbia’s Caballero, to win the 2013 Boston Marathon for the women. It is her second Boston Marathon win. The first coming back in 2006.

Today the 2012 USA Olympic Marathon Trails were held at the Chevron Houston Marathon down in Texas. It was a very speedy and fast day as four Americans went under 2:10:00 for the first time ever during the same marathon.
American male Meb Keflezighi won the Houston Marathon with the fastest time of 2:09:08 which is a new personal record (PR) for Meb.
Ryan Hall finished in a close 2nd place at 2:09:30.

- Abdi Abdirahman – 2:09:47
- Dathan Ritzenhein – 2:09:55
- Brett Gotcher – 2:11:06
It looks like it will be Meb, Ryan, Abdi representing the USA at the Olympics with Dathan as the 1st alternative.
Shalane Flanagan was the female winner as she held off Desiree Davila to finish with a time of 2:25:38. Flanagan moves to 6-0 in the head-to-head matchup with Davila to date.
That means Flanagan, Davila, and Goucher will represent in the Olympics with Hastings as the alternate.

Ethiopian Gebre Gebrmariam won the 2010 ING New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 7, 2010 with a time of 2:0814. He beat Kenyan Emmanuel Mutai, by over a minute, as Mutai finished in 2:09:18.
Kenyan Edna Kiplagat was the fastest woman winning with a time of 2:28:20, barely edging out American Shalane Flanagan by just 20 seconds (2:28:40).
