Rita Jeptoo Wins the 2014 Boston Marathon (Top Female Results)

Kenya’s Rita Jeptoo won the 118th Boston Marathon for the women moments ago with a course record time of 2:18:57. It was Rita’s third Boston Marathon win and back to back win after winning last year as well.

Second and third place went to Ethiopia’s Buzunesh Deba and Mare Dibaba respectively.

Congrats to Rita on the repeat and her third Boston Marathon finish. Props also to American Shalane Flanagan who ran an extremely strong race leading from the start until around mile 20 as well as to fellow American Desiree Linden on her top 10 finish..

Geoffrey Mutai Wins 2013 ING New York City Marathon (Results)

Kenya’s Geoffrey Mutai won the 2013 ING New York City Marathon moments ago with a winning time of 2:08:24.  The legend of Mutai continues to grow with another win.

Second place went to Tsegaye Kebede in 2:09:16 and April Lusapho took 3rd in 2:09:45.

The 2013 ING New York City Marathon women’s winner was Priscah Jeptoo in 2:25:07.

Buzunesh Deba finished 2nd in 2:25:56 and Jelena Prokopcuka took 3rd in 2:27:47.

Congrats to these elites and every runner, of every level, that toed the starting line of the New York City Marathon this morning.

Kenya’s Terfa Negari Wins 2011 Rock n’ Roll San Diego Marathon (Results)

Kenya’s Terfa Negari won the 2011 Rock n’ Roll San Diego Marathon on Sunday, June 5, 2011, with a finishing time of 2:11:16.

Ethiopian Tesfaye Sendeku came in second place with a time of 2:12:21.

Negari’s fellow countryman Gilbert Chepkwony took home third with a strong showing at 2:12:49.

Markos Geneti Wins L.A. Marathon in Debut

Markos Geneti Wins 2011 Los Angeles Marathon in Debut (Results)

Ethiopian Markos Geneti won a soaked 2011 Los Angeles Marathon on Sunday with a speedy 2:06:35 finish.  Geneti won $125,000.00 for finishing first and winning the gender challenge.  The women were spotted 17 minutes.

Remarkably Geneti had never run a marathon before.  The 26 year-old Ethiopian complained of a side stitch throughout but none of it seemed to matter as he set a record for the fastest California marathon time….ever!

Defending champion Wesley Korir finished back in 4th place with a 2:13:23 finish.

Korir hit a massive wall at mile 21 and thought he was done, for good, “”First of all, I’d like to thank God that I’m still alive,” said Korir, smiling. “I thought it was the end of my life.”
