Day 11: Run It Fast’s Race Across the USA – Pouring Out 40’s

Run It Fast’s Race Across the USA Day 11 had a slew of 40’s thrown down by four of our runners, two of them from The Beetroots that provided an adrenaline shot to the team. Cathy Downes (CB) led the day with 45.05 miles, followed by Amy Costa (BR) with 42.74.  Ed Ettinghausen (REV) had his second day in a row of 40+ with 42.3. Kendra Schoffstall (BR) ran 40.03. Downe’s 45.05 miles follows her 52.50 from five days ago.

Rev Run was the top team again on the day. They are half way through New Mexico. The Metcalvary had an off day but easily hung onto the second spot. The Crowe Bars and Tuck n’ Stroll were neck and neck for the 2/3rd most miles on the day.

The biggest surprise came from The Beetroots fourth place day of 135.71 miles. They were led by the 1-2 punch from Costa and Schoffstall’s 40-milers.

The Day’s Quick Team-by-Team Recaps

REV RUN- Day 11: 193.70 Miles (1st) – 1st overall

More of the same asphalt carnage from Rev Run’s fire and brimstone attack. They were led with another 40+ miles from Ed ‘the Jester’ Ettinghausen. Lisa Devona was great once again with 32.06 miles. Emily Ryan, an unsung star on the team, was brilliant with 24.74 miles.

THE METCALVARY – Day 11: 121.88 Miles (8th) – 2nd overall

An off-day for The Mets, but it really had a neutral effect. They are solidly in second place overall. They were led today by Elissa Higgins with 21.33 miles. The R(Andy) Show starring Randy Broadway and Andy Glaze was strong once again with a combined 36.85 miles. GRAPES OF RATH – Day 11: 127.86 Miles (6th) – 3rd overall

The Grapes weren’t horrible on Thursday, but they saw their lead on 3rd place drop to just 4 miles ahead of Tuck. They likely will jump back and forth over the next week. GOR was led today by Tom ‘Mad Hornet’ Orr who was very workmanlike with 28.11 miles. He was supported by Chris Clemens (27.78) and Lisamarie Griffin (26.60).

The team is in Henryetta, Oklahoma.

GOR’s Top Performers of the Day

  1. Tom Orr – 28.11 miles

TUCK N’ STROLL – Day 11: 160.70 Miles (3rd) – 4th overall

Team captain Shane Tucker knows how to manage a team. He was the winning captain in our initial journey, and he has evolved TNS into a pistol packing, endorphin laced team of upper-cutters. They were led again by Ximena Kriete, back in the 30’s today, with 32.33 miles. Henriett Blodgett grabbed the mic when the second song came on and belted out 31.25 miles. Rene ‘Fast as Fast Can Be, You’ll Never Catch Me’ Fosdal-Griffin dropped the confetti from the rafters with 21.68 miles.

CROWE BARS – Day 11: 161.68 Miles (2nd) – 5th overall

Any time you get 105+ miles from your top-3 runners you are going to place high, and the Crowe Bars did with a 2nd place finish for the day. It also jumped them two spots in the overall standings to 5th. They were led by Cathy Downes’ second massive performance of the race. Seth Crowe, after a couple low days, ratcheted up the odometer to 35.27 miles. Steve Troxel hit a ‘Dome-Run’ with 25.39 miles.

The team is in Checotah, Oklahoma.

TRIP 2 MY LOU – Day 11: 85.78 Miles (12th) – 8th overall

A rough day for The Lou’s, but only a day it makes. They are still in the thick of the pack with a better day tomorrow on the horizon. They might be knocked down, but they won’t lay on that timing mat for too long.

The team is at the Cracker Barrel in Alma, Arkansas.

  2. Russ Metteer – 11.50 miles

The Glass consistently is putting in very solid days now. This isn’t moving them up in the standings yet, but it is inching them closer to moving up to the 8th spot. They were led today by Lisa Van Wolde’s 26.21 miles.

The team is in Russellville, Arkansas.

KG’s Top Performers of the Day

  1. Lisa Van Wolde – 26.21 miles

A rumor surfaced on a Reddit thread earlier in the day that Thomas Fowler was seen on a RATUSA simulator working on his routes, left turns, and buying time for his foot to regenerate.

The team is in Carlisle, Arkansas.

PR’s Top Performers of the Day

  1. Karla Kent – 22.22 miles
  2. Rich Peers – 19.03 miles
  3. Diane Taylor- 18.28 miles

THE BEETROOTS – Day 11: 135.71 Miles (4th) – 11th overall

Big, big day and miles for The Roots. They had nearly matching mileage days from Amy Costa and Kendra Schoffstall. Both were vital in leading the team to a 4th place finish on the day. One would seem to be able to predict the mileage for the Yo-Yo’s tomorrow, but predictions are easy to make with no money on the line.

The team is currently in Biscoe, Arkansas

BR’s Top Performers of the Day

  1. Amy Costa – 42.74 miles
  2. Kendra Schoffstall – 40.03 miles
  3. Leslie Studtmann- 13.00 miles

ELI’S P.R. ICE – Day 11: 91.92 Miles (11th) – 12th overall

  1. Francesca Muccini – 23.09 miles
