JFK 50 Mile

David Riddle Smokes JFK 50 Miler (Results)

Ohio native David Riddle smoked the JFK 50 Mile ultramarathon on Saturday in Maryland with a time of 5:40:45.  Virginia’s Michael Wardian finished nearly as fast in 2nd place in 5:43:24.

Cassie Scallon was the first female finisher in 6:31:22.

Folisho Tuko Wins 2011 Philadelphia Marathon (Results)

New York native Folisho Tuko won the 2011 Philadelphia Marathon on Sunday in a time of 2:19:16.  He barely edged out Californian Kevin Pool who finished just six seconds behind at 2:19:22.

Third place went to Hollary Cheruiyot who was less 41 seconds back of 1st with a time of 2:19:57

Hal Koerner – 2011 Javelina Jundred Course Record Holder – Winner

Hal Koerner Crushes Javelina Jundred 100 Miler Course Record (Results)

Elite runner Hal Koerner destroyed the old course record at the Javelina Jundred, just minutes ago, finishing the 100 (actually 101.4) mile ultramarathon in 13 hours 47 minutes and 46 seconds.

The previous course record was held by Dave James in 14:20:54 back in 2009.

Second place finisher Evan Honeyfield also beat the previous course record finishing in 14 hours and 1 minute.

Elizabeth ‘Liza’ Howard, who now has five 100 mile wins, blasted the JJ female record with a 15:47:00.  The previous record was held by Jamie Donaldson in 17:11:32.

Kenyan Geoffrey Mutai broke away from a crowded elite field around mile 20 to amass an impressive lead in winning the 2011 ING New York City Marathon in 2:05:06.

Dado Firehiwot Wins ING NYC Marathon in 2:23:15 (Elite Female Results)

Ethiopian Firehiwot Dado came from far behind on Sunday morning to catch Kenyan Mary Keitany to win the 2011 ING New York City Marathon with a time of 2:23:15.

Keitany led the race by a large distance for 25 miles before Firehiwot and Buzunesh Deba caught her then left her in their tracks.  Dado then pulled away from Deba to win the ING NYC Marathon.

Chad Ware won the 36th Marine Corps Marathon early Sunday morning in Washington, D.C. with a time of 2:26:37.  Ware is a first lieutenant in the United States Army.

Big Dog Starters

Laz’s Big Dog Backyard Ultra Results (2011)

Laz’s Big Dog Backyard Ultra took place on October 22, 2011 in Lazarus Lake’s backyard in Wartrace, Tennessee…naturally.

This unique race consisted of a 4.16 mile loop where the runners had to complete the loop in less than a hour.  If a runner couldn’t then he or she was disqualified and their day was over.  The race restarts every hour, on the hour, and it repeats until just one runner is left standing.

Tim Englund won the inaugural event, lasting 18 loops (74.88 miles), beating Dave Carver who completed 17 loops (70.72 miles).

Indianapolis native Cory Ferguson won the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis Marathon on Sunday with a time of 2:29:21.

He didn’t win by much though as Illinois’ Arturs Bareikis was just 2 seconds behind at 2:29:23.

The 2nd Annual Southern Tennessee Plunge Marathon & 1/2 Marathon took place earlier today in Winchester, Tennessee.

It was chilly at the start and windy throughout, but the race conditions overall were great.
