This creative and unique finisher’s medal is from the 2011 Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati, Ohio that took place on May 1, 2011.

It was the first two-sided medal that I have received for finishing a race.  The front had a ‘flying pig’ with the phrase “I HIGHTAILED IT,” and the back of the medal had the backside of a ‘flying pig’ with the phrase “I MADE A RUN FOR IT” with the skyline of Cincy in the background.

The decorative ribbon (see photo below) completed this first class medal. The ribbon was thick, with flying piggies, and the name of the race on it.

Here is the impressive and massive finisher’s bling from the 2011 Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon that took place in Louisville, Kentucky on April 30, 2011.

The overall winner was Peter Kemboi (2:24:59) and the female winner was Veronika Lopatina (2:41:24).

Here are a couple of photos of the 2011 Scenic City Trail Marathon finisher’s medal from the race that is put on by local outdoor store Rock Creek.

The marathon and half marathon take place on Raccoon Mountain just outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The 2011 Scenic City Trail Marathon was won by Aaron Saft (2:47:44) and Sarah Woerner (3;13:34 course record).

Rock Creek does a great job with their trail series. They put on several well attended trail races throughout the year.

Here is a look at the 115th Boston Marathon finisher’s medal.  A classy and timeless piece of artwork for sure.

The 2011 race was the fastest Boston Marathon ever. Kenya’s Geoffrey Mutai won with the fastest time for a marathon ever in 2:03:02.

The 2011 Lavaman Triathlon took place on April 3, 2011 in Waikoloa, Hawaii.

The finisher’s medal is colorful, unique, and keeps with Hawaiian tradition.

The triathlon was won by Erich Wegscheider with at total time of 1:53:31, followed by John Flanagan 1:56:28, and Jens Beck took third in 1:57:20.

Bree Wee was the first female finisher, finishing in 2:04:28. Shannon Donley followed in second 2:10:19.  Rani Tanimoto finished third with a time of 2:13:02.

Here is the finisher’s medal from the 2011 Oak Barrel Half Marathon in Lynchburg, Tennessee.

The race was won by George Heeschen (story/results).

Here is the finisher’s medal from the 2011 Greenway Marathon that took place in Nashville, Tennessee on March 27, 2011.

The race was won by Chris Herren (2:33:39).

Here is the finisher’s medal for the 2011 National Half-Marathon that is run every spring in Washington, D.C.

A very impressive medal for sure.  More race directors need to get creative and spend the coin to create nice pieces like the National Marathon medal.

The race was held on March 26, 2011.

The Los Angeles Marathon on Tuesday unveiled the finisher’s medal on Facebook for the 26th running of the L.A. Marathon which takes place on March 20, 2011.

The design is unique and a good bit different from the 25th anniversary medal last year.

The best part of the medal is the background of it which is a collage of words made up of all of the highlights and cities the 26.2  mile race travels through.

Here is a look at the impressive Land Between the Lakes 50 Mile & 60K belt buckle. The buckle is given out to the finishers of both distances.

The buckle pictured here is from the 2010 race, but it will likely be the same buckle given out at the 2011 event as well.

The 2011 Land Between the Lake races will take place on March 12, 2011.
