Here is the finisher’s medal from the Big Sur International Marathon that took place on April 29, 2012 in Big Sur, California.

This is one mega cool medal that has a very natural Native American feel to it.

Here is the finisher’s medal from the Salt Lake City Marathon that took place on April 21, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

This is such a strong, bold, and masculine medal.  A medal a superhero would be proud to wear as his belt buckle.

The middle part of the medal (with the runners and ‘Utah’) is a spinner.

19-year old Ryan James, making his marathon debut yesterday, won the 2012 St. Jude Country Music Marathon in Nashville, Tennessee with a time of 2:32:47.

James won easily by eight minutes over Arizona’s Steve Slaby (2:40:16) with third place going to Daniel Smoak (2:41:44).

Top overall female went to Georgia’s Erin Sutton in 2:54:16. It was her debut marathon as well.

Second place female was Karen Lockyer (2:56:21) and third went to Anya Bogdanets (3:02:15).

Only 11 runners of the 3,925 finishers went sub 3-hours on the hilly and hot course.

Top 5 St. Jude Country Music Half Marathon Finishers

The female winner of the CMM Half Marathon was Sharon Thompson, from Franklin, with a time of 1:19:39. Second female went to Tamara Karrh (1:20:26) with third going to Ashley Evans (1:22:47).

Congrats to these top finishers and everyone who finished the Country Music Marathon or 1/2 Marathon yesterday.

Kenya has announced the runners that will represent the country for the marathon in the 2012 London Olympics later this year.

This is paramount to the United States selecting it’s latest edition of the Dream Team for basketball.

Representing Kenya in London will be Wilson Kipsang, who won the London Marathon just three days ago, along with Abel Kirui and Moses Mosop according to the BBC.

In a bit of a shocker Patrick Makau who holds the world record for the marathon was left off the team along with Geoffrey Mutai and Emmanual Mutai.

Makau’s exclusion is probably similar to the USA leaving Isaiah Thomas off the original 1992 Dream Team because Michael Jordan and others on the team hated him so much.

Representing the Kenyan women will be Mary Keitany, Edna Kiplagat and Priscah Jeptoo.

Not that they will need it, but best of luck to Wilson (can’t help but think of Castaway), Abel (finally getting the better of Cain), and Moses (enough said), Mary, Edna and Priscah.

Here is the finisher’s medal from the Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid Marathon that took place in Madrid, Spain on April 22, 2012.

Rock ‘n’ Roll is usually hit or miss on their medals. They have had some really good ones and some duds as well (see Country Music 2012).

One of the cooler medals you will ever lay eyes on it. It has a build in magnetic charm on the back. See photos below for more visuals of this amazing booty.

This medal will end up being one of the top 10 best medals of 2012.

Kenya’s Wilson Kipsang won the 2012 London Marathon this morning with a time of 2:04:44.

Second place went to Martin Lel (2:06:51-Kenya) who barely bested third place finisher Tsegaye Kebede (2:06:52-Ethiopia).

Just 1 minute and 29 seconds separated 1st through 10th places for the men.

Mary Keitany was the female winner with a time of 2:18:37.  Keitany’s time is the 2nd fastest in London Marathon history. The fastest time belongs to London’s Paula Radcliffe in 2:17:42 (2005).

Second place female was Edna Kiplagat (2:19:50-Kenya) and the female’s Kenyan podium was completed with Priscah Jeptoo (2:20:14).

The top five female finishers were all from Kenya.

Congrats to all who ran and finished the 2012 London Marathon.

Arkansas native Leah Thorvilson won the Carmel Marathon earlier today with a winning time of 2:42:13 in Carmel, Indiana.  The winning time by Leah was also a new course record.

The win comes just one week after Thorvilson was the overall winner at the Hogeye Marathon in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Thorvilson bested the second best female by nearly twenty minutes. Melissa Gillette finished second with a strong time of 3:02:25.

Third overall female went to Laurissa Dalrymple in 3:07:37.
