The inaugural Freedom Half Marathon took place on November 13, 2011 in Norfolk, Virginia.

This patriotic half-mary had an equally strong and patriotic finisher’s medal as you can see in the photo above.

The I Run For The Party – Nashville 1/2 Marathon presented by the Hard Rock Cafe took place this morning and Marathon Maniac Scott Stader was quick to email us over a photo of the beautiful finisher’s medal.

Stader said they complained pretty loudly last year for not getting a medal for the race and that they “overcompensated” this year with this beautiful piece.

We have this finisher’s medal submission from all the way across the pond.  It is the Chester Marathon medal.  The race takes place in the United Kingdom town of Chester.

The clock in the middle of the medal is the Eastgate clock which is a prominent landmark the Chester city centre.

The Chester Marathon took place on October 8, 2011 and was won by Ben Fish in 2:27:25.

Here is the over-commercialized finisher’s medal from the Dublin Marathon that took place on October 31, 2011 in Dublin, Ireland.

The Dublin Marathon was won by Kenyan Geoffrey G. Ndungu who ran it fast in 2:08:33.

The Indianapolis Monumental Marathon took place on November 5, 2011 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Here is the finisher’s medal from the Monumental.

Dallas Smith, who send us the photo, described it this way, “The Monumental Marathon medal is less ornate than its name might suggest. Rather, it’s simple and tasteful.”

WE ARE MARSHALL!!! And here is the Marshall University Marathon finisher’s medal.  The race took place on November 6, 2011.

I think this medal is pretty great.  It’s unique yet not over-the-top cheesy with gimmicks.  And all medals, like the Flying Pig Marathon (see HERE) medal, that have a cool back side get extra points for creativity.

It took a couple of days, but we’ve finally landed a photo of the 2011 ING New York City Marathon medal from the race that took place on November 6, 2011.

No wonder it took so long. This medal is several levels below average.

You’d think with the NYC Marathon being such a large marathon that they’d spend a little coin on a finisher’s medal worthy of this prestigious event.

It’s not the worst medal we’ve ever seen, but it is very 5K’ish for sure.

Here is the finisher’s medal from the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon that took place on November 5, 2011.

The race was won by Nathan O’Connell with a time of 2:29:05.  The top female finisher was Jill Horst in 2:45:12.

WOW! We’ve come to expect the best out of the Marines so it should be no surprise that the 36th Marine Corps Marathon medal is simply one of the best we’ve seen this year.

It looks like something straight out of an Austin Powers movie.

The MCM was run on October 30, 2011.  The race was won by Army first lieutenant Chad Ware (results).
