Here are some photos from the inaugural Savage Gulf Trail Marathon that was held on March 17, 2012 in Savage Gulf State Park in Tennessee.

The race lived up to it’s name. The marathon was barbaric, uncivilized, viscous, and merciless with boulder after boulder mixed in amongst rocky creek beds and hundreds of roots over the 26.2 mile course.

However, it is the most beautiful race I”ve done to date.  It has 10+ waterfalls along with 10-12 swinging bridges mixed in with over 5,000 of elevation gain and 5,000 ft of elevation loss as well.

Here is a sneak peek look at the finisher medals for the 2012 Country Music Marathon and Half Marathon that will be handed out on April 28, 2012 in Nashville, Tennessee.

You will also notice the medal for Mini Marathon which is a massive 2.62 miles long and costs about the same as the regular marathons.

The 2012 Montreal Indoor Marathon took place on January 28-29, 2012 in Montreal, Canada.

To complete the 26.2 mile course one had to run 274 laps on the indoor track within the 6-hour time limit. That’s a small track!!

The race was limited to 30 runners per day.

Congrats to all of those who finished without falling over dizzy!

Famed marathoner Chuck ‘Marathonjunkie’ Engle won the 2012 Maui Oceanfront Marathon on Sunday in Maui with a winning time of 2:50:02.

Chuck ran slower than he expected to and said the heat played a factor during the last 10 miles of the race. However, his performance was still golden enough to hold off Hawaiian native Jon McGonangle who finished four minutes back in 2:54:27.

The female race was a good bit closer as Mari Kauri held off Vera Monsao with a time of 3:19:00 to win by a gap of 93 seconds.
