RIF #2 Naresh Kumar sent over this video earlier this week of a Slinky ‘running’ on a treadmill.

He said it reminded him of struggling along during day four of his Vol State 500K race last year as he zigged and zagged along the roads of Tennessee.

Naresh was quoted during the race as saying, “I keep hoping that a semi will hit me but just bad enough to knock me out of the race…not kill me!”

If Slinky can, you can!!!

Here is the finisher’s medal from the 34th Strolling Jim 40 Mile Run that took place on May 5, 2012 in Wartrace, Tennessee.

The best medal they’ve had so far in the history of the event. The medal was large as you can see the outline of a quarter to the left of the medal.

The Dirty German 50 Miler that took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania didn’t have a finisher’s medal, but we have been sent a photo of one of the extremely unique age division awards from the race.

That is a German Weather House for the rest of you that had no clue like myself.  It’s very unique and on the brink of actually being useful.

Now if the rest of us were only speedy enough to get one.  Congrats to Robin!

Here is the finisher’s medal from the ill-fated Cellcom Green Bay Marathon that took place on May 19, 2012 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The race was cancelled 2 1/2 hours into the race due to high temperatures. This didn’t sit well with most of the runners. The runners were supposed to jump a bus at the next water station and get a ride back to the finish.

Elite female marathoner Leah Thorvilson was in 1st place when the race was called, forfeiting what seemed to be a would-be victory. However, she found some solace in forking over $12 bucks to have her medal from the race personalized.

You can see what she had engraved in the photo above.

Leah added on Twitter, “..this is supposed to be funny, not drama…after a few beers seemed worth the $12 engraving charge. :-)”

Kudos to Leah on keeping a sense of humor about it all.

Here is the finisher’s medal from The Brooklyn Half Marathon that took place on May 19, 2012 in Brooklyn, New York.

The race had over 14,000 finishers. Congrats to all who ran TBHM.

Really love this medal. It definitely has a rough-edged Brooklyn feel to it.
