New Years Double Challenge

The New Years Double Challenge took place on New Years Eve 2011 and New Years Day 2012. You can run anything from a 5K to a marathon either day and you receive a medal each day. If you run both days, you receive the Challenge Plate which allows you to combine the medals together! These are the individual medals:

Lisa Gonzales – I’m running in San Francisco at the New Years One Day 12HR!!! Woo!!! Sorry, I’m just a little bit excited. 😉

Evan Gilead – I had the #needforspeed but my jet plane is in the shop. Second alternative, I went running.

Lionel Garcia – no races this week but #rundisney next weekend!

Ian Richards – Running from home probably 8 miles steady on Sunday.

Jared Friesen – 2 double digit back to back runs this weekend for a total of 32 miles in cold Alaska winter weather!

Erin Donovan – Albany, ny! Hangover half marathon

Aaron Johnstone – 14 mile training run tomorrow for the @austinmarathon! Just hit 1000 mi. for the year this morning!!!

Kiwi – Knoxville, TN

Steve Carleton – South Mills Recreational Trail, South Mills, NC

Sweet finisher’s medal from the Latin Music Miami Beach 1/2 Marathon that was held on December 11, 2011.  (A Rock ‘n’ Roll/Competitor event.)

This was the third half marathon run by Shawna Block.  She finished with a time of 2:23:51.  She has lost 48 pounds since she started running and is an inspiration to many that it can be done.

It was a trainwreck on Sunday night in Las Vegas at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & Half Marathon but a few survived…and some of us even received a medal for finishing.

For the rest of you? You can expect to receive your medal in 4-6 weeks according to the Competitor Group. Running out of medals at any event is a disaster, but it was the least of the disasters Sunday night (Full Story).

Finisher’s medal from the 2011 Schaumburg Turkey Trot Half Marathon that took place in Schaumburg, Illinois on November 26, 2011.

Nice bling for a half mary.

The 40th Space Coast Marathon & Half Marathon took place on Sunday, November 27, 2011.  Here is the shiny, sparkly, appropriate, over-the-top finisher’s medal from the half marathon.

The full marathon medal was a near exact replica with a color variation.

This is a medal that the ‘King of Bling’ would be ecstatic to have hanging from his mounted bugle horn.

The inaugural Freedom Half Marathon took place on November 13, 2011 in Norfolk, Virginia.

This patriotic half-mary had an equally strong and patriotic finisher’s medal as you can see in the photo above.

The inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis Marathon & 1/2 Marathon took place over the weekend on October 23, 2011 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Both the full and half finisher’s medals were similar except for the color of the ring circling around the medal. The full was red (Cardinals red) and the half was navy.

Overall, I think it’s a very pretty medal that focuses on St. Louis’ most historic landmark, the Gateway Arch, with a riverboat at the base of it.
