The Unspoken Rules of Being a Badass: A Runner's Guide

Teen Dies During Half Marathon in Virginia Beach

Sadly,  16-year old teen Cameron Gallagher died shortly after finishing the Virginia Beach Shamrock Half Marathon last weekend. She collapsed just past the finished line and died shortly after at a local hospital.

Cameron Gallagher crumpled to the ground at 9:30 a.m. after crossing the finish line at Virginia Beach’s Shamrock Half Marathon. The Richmond girl was rushed to a local hospital, but doctors were unable to revive her heartbeat. She passed away at 11. a.m.

Family members who came out to cheer for the 16-year-old girl are now coming to terms with the fact that her young life was cut so short.

Cameron had a huge heart for helping others and had been planning a “Speaking Up 5K” to promote awareness about teen suicide.

Before her death, Cameron had been organizing a 5K to promote awareness about suicide. Friends say that the teen’s “Speaking Up 5K” will continue in Cameron’s memory.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Cameron’s parents, family, and friends.
